The Big Idea
The Tall Timbers Pine and Seek Challenge Hunt is a scavenger hunt for all ages. When the Hunt ends at Judging Time on July 25, judges will total points for each team and award prizes and fame.
FAQ
Who can be on a team? What does each team need?
Anyone staying in the purple house or treehouse from July 22-25, 2025 can play! Every team must include 2-5 people and give itself a team name. You can only play for one team, and you can’t switch teams during the hunt. Judges will post a list of all teams in the purple house so everyone can keep track of who’s who.
How does the hunt work?
Around dinnertime on July 22, judges will hand out copies of the master list of items to be found. Everyone will have until Judging Time on July 25 to find and submit as many items as you want for points and judging. The judges will then review all submissions, total the points, announce the Grand Winning Team, and give out prizes.
What kinds of items will the teams be looking for?
Most items on the list will be either physical (like “three oak leaves,”), activity-based (like “swim out to the raft and back,”), visual (like “a photograph of a team member sitting under a pine tree,”), or performative (like “a recording of two team members singing an original song about loons”). Every item is worth a certain number of points, and some are harder than others.
What can the teams win?
Every player whose team submits at least 1 item will get special commemorative stickers and a choice of prizes from the Grand Prize Treasury. The team with the most total points will also receive the permanent honor of their team name engraved on the Tall Timbers Pine and Seek Hunt Challenge Perpetual Trophy, which will remain on proud display in the purple house year-round.
Who are the judges this year? What do they do?
Nana and Pico are the judges for 2025. They will review all items submitted, total up the points, and award the prizes. They can also answer questions and settle disputes. Judges may not play on teams.
What are refereed items and witness slips? How do they work?
Some things on the list require a referee. For these items, the list will include eligible referees next to the item description, like: “Tell Julia how fantastic she is. Referee: Nini.” Once a player has successfully finished the activity, the referee will sign a witness slip, and the team will submit that witness slip along with their other items. Referees may play on teams as long as they agree to fairly referee items for everyone.
Where and how can the teams submit items?
Each team will have a bin in the purple house to store their found items and witness slips. Any player interfering with another team’s bin will be disqualified. You can put items in your team’s bin at any time, or you can store them elsewhere and submit them at the last minute. Just make sure everything is submitted before Judging Time. For photos, recordings, and videos, teams should text or email their submissions to the numbers/email addresses on the list.
Is this going to be awesome?
YES.
